Test SMS Messages for Emergency Situations Sent to Mobile Phones in Cyprus

The Government of Cyprus is launching a messaging system to inform citizens in emergency situations. A test message was sent to all mobile phone users in Cyprus today at 19:00.

The Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, announced that this action is part of taking precautionary self-protection measures. The Ministry of Interior has published the test messages that citizens will receive, in both Greek and English.

The messages include instructions for citizens on what to do in the event of a security incident. Citizens are urged to remain calm and follow the instructions of the Civil Defence.

Message 1: Announcement Civil Defence. Precautionary Self-Protection Measures...

Message 2: Assessment of a possible security incident is under way...

Message 3: You are informed that the security incident has ended.
