Dromolaxia-Meneou Municipality Awaits Shelter Update

The Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou is awaiting official information from the Civil Defense regarding approved and registered shelters in the communities of Tersefanou, Kiti, Pervolia, and Meneou. The aim is to inform the citizens, as stated by Mayor Kypros Andronikou.

Civil Defense Spokesperson Panagiotis Liasidis stated that in addition to the SafeCy application, there are guidelines for areas without shelters. When asked about the communities near Larnaca Airport, where there are no shelters, he replied that studies are being conducted to increase the number of shelters.

Mr. Andronikou told ΚΥΠΕ that he requested written information about the shelters in the municipal districts, so that they can be used by citizens if needed. He also mentioned that specific churches with basements in Dromolaxia and Kiti were not found in the application.

Mr. Liasidis stressed the need for calm due to public concern about the war situation in Iran. He also said that efforts are being made to identify and register more shelters.

He noted that after the war in Ukraine, there was talk about shelters and that Europe was created after a major war, with the idea of European solidarity and peace between states.
