N. Nicosia Mayor: Progress on Foot-and-Mouth Disease Measures

The Mayor of South Nicosia, Stavros Chatzigiannis, stated to CYPE that the Municipality's recommendations for managing foot-and-mouth disease are being taken into account by the Department of Agriculture.

Mr. Chatzigiannis had expressed concerns regarding the coordination and responsibilities of the Department of Agriculture, especially in mixed zones. He reports that the Ministry of Agriculture is taking the views of the Mayors seriously.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the installation of automated vehicle spraying systems has begun, and warning signs have been placed.
