Protest in Mazotos Against Desalination Unit

A protest took place in Mazotos against the installation of a mobile desalination unit in the area. The Mazotos Community Council and residents expressed their opposition to the decision, citing environmental impacts.

The Community Leader of Mazotos, Georgios Dimitriou Pafitis, stated that there is an independent study that discourages the installation due to the habitats. Protesters are demanding the revocation of the decision, the preparation of an environmental impact study, and transparency.

The Mazotos Community Council recognizes the water problem but emphasizes the need for substantiated decisions and social consensus. A meeting with the Ministers of Interior and Agriculture will be held in Mazotos on January 31st.
