Protest in Astromeritis over Dhenia-Astromeritis Highway

Residents of the communities of Akaki, Peristerona, and Astromeritis, with the support of the community authority of occupied Katokopia, held a protest this morning in Astromeritis.

The protesters are expressing their opposition to the construction of the Dhenia-Astromeritis highway south of the Peristerona and Astromeritis communities, arguing that this route will have negative impacts on the safety of residents.

The protest took place at the Astromeritis traffic lights, on the Morphou-Troodos road, under police supervision. The protesters symbolically blocked traffic for five minutes and distributed informational material.
