Protest in Larnaca Demands Port and Marina Development

Citizens of Larnaca staged a protest in Europe Square, demanding the immediate start of development projects at the city's port and marina. Protesters expressed their disappointment at the ongoing stagnation and delays in the project.
The event was attended by the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, the President of EOA Larnaca, Angelos Hatzicharalambous, the President of EOA Famagusta, Giannis Karousos, as well as other political figures and citizens. Annita Demetriou stated that unity is necessary to promote the project, which she described as important not only for Larnaca but for Cyprus as a whole.
Giannis Karousos, former Minister of Transport, stressed that the cancellation of the contract for the redevelopment of the port and marina is unfair to Larnaca and deprives the city of a unique development opportunity. He referred to the investment of 1.2 billion euros and the significant economic benefits that would result from the project.
Angelos Hatzicharalambous stressed that the implementation of the project is a priority for the residents of Larnaca and that pressure must be exerted on the state for its immediate start.
Euripides Fragkos, representing the youth of the city, demanded respect for Larnaca and an end to the mockery, calling for clear actions and the immediate start of the projects.
