Outdoor Work Stoppage Due to Heatwave: Inspections and Measures

Outdoor work in Cyprus has been suspended due to a red alert for a heatwave. The Department of Labor Inspection has launched intensive inspections to enforce the measures.
Yiannis Panagiotou, Minister of Labor: "Six teams from the Ministry of Labor are conducting inspections, in cooperation with the Cyprus Police." Inspections are increased due to the red alert.
Marios Tsoutsoukis, Labor Inspector of Nicosia: "The health of workers is more vulnerable due to heat stress. That is why frequent inspections are carried out to protect them."
According to the decree, manual labor stops during the red alert. Distribution by two-wheeled vehicles is limited between 12:00 and 16:00. Violations are checked by safe means.
The Minister of Labor assured that employers and employees comply with the decree, and violations are isolated.
