Achaia: Support Measures for Fire Victims

A meeting was held in the Region of Western Greece with the participation of the Minister of Interior Theodoros Livanios and the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Kostas Katsafados, to address the impact of the fires in Achaia.
Immediate support measures were announced for those affected, such as the provision of 300-500 euros for rent, exemption from ENFIA for three years, and state subsidies for damage repair (70% for businesses, 80% for residences). In addition, amounts will be given immediately for repairs and covering needs.
Municipalities will collect applications from August 20 to September 1, with compensations including 600 euros as an emergency aid, 2,000 euros for "green" residences, 4,000 euros for "yellow" and 6,000 euros for "red" ones.
According to records, over 42,500 acres were burned and 90 houses were damaged, with 33 being deemed uninhabitable.
Kostas Katsafados stressed the need for rapid compensation of those affected through cooperation between local government and ministries.
