Accident in Vasilikos: EAC President's Statement

The President of the EAC, Giorgos Petrou, assured that there is no cause for concern after the accident at the Vasilikos power station. Two employees of a private company were injured during the maintenance of the fire extinguishing system.
According to Mr. Petrou, the accident was caused by the release of gas under high pressure during the installation of a fire extinguishing gas cylinder. A 41-year-old suffered a laceration to the head and is being hospitalized as a precaution, while a 42-year-old was slightly injured and discharged.
The Fire Service responded to the incident, while the Department of Labor Inspection is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
