Athens: Tree Falls in Agia Irini Square Due to Strong Winds

A tree fell in Agia Irini Square, in the center of Athens, due to strong winds that hit the city. According to the Municipality of Athens, the incident occurred on Saturday morning and resulted in injuries to two citizens. One woman was taken to Evangelismos Hospital, while a man was slightly injured.

In addition, tree falls were reported on Theotokopoulou and Knossou streets. On Theotokopoulou Street, a tree caused material damage to a parked vehicle.

The Municipality of Athens has mobilized crews from the Greenery and Cleaning Services, as well as forces from the Municipal Police, to remove the trees and ensure safety. Citizens are urged to avoid parking under trees and to contact 1595 for emergencies.

The Municipality of Athens is monitoring the development of the weather phenomena and will inform the public of any further developments.
