Amid concerns about safety in Cyprus due to the situation in the Middle East, an emergency drill was conducted at an elementary school in Limassol. On the show ENIMEROSI TORA, the Press Officer of the Civil Defense, Panagiotis Liasidis, presented a video from the drill and explained the actions that children and teachers should take in case of an alarm.

According to Mr. Liasidis, the new protocol requires children to leave the classrooms in the event of a continuous ringing of the bell (three times). This differs from the previous protocol, where students remained under their desks. In the video from the Elementary School in Limassol, students follow the new instructions.

Mr. Liasidis clarified that in some cases, depending on the instructions, children can remain under their desks. He also emphasized the excellent cooperation between Civil Defense and the Ministry of Education, noting that all schools have evacuation plans and conduct drills.

Regarding the alarm at the American Embassy, Mr. Liasidis stated that the information was given only to a private kindergarten and not to a public one, due to lack of timely information to the Civil Defense.
