Teachers' Strike: Parents React Angrily to OELMEK's Decision

The Pancyprian Confederation of Parents' Associations of Public Secondary Schools has expressed its strong displeasure with OELMEK's decision to hold a work stoppage on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
In a statement, the Confederation stressed that it cannot support actions that deprive children of their right to education, calling on the House of Representatives to vote on a new Evaluation Plan for Teachers and Educational Work on December 22.
Parents expressed their inability to transport students to schools at 9:00 a.m. due to work obligations and called on the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth to make the necessary arrangements.
The Confederation concluded that it will not tolerate the use of children as a means of pressure for trade union demands. The issue will be discussed at the Plenary Session of the Board of Directors on December 18.
