Paphos Deputy Mayor: Chaotic Situation at Paphos Airport Due to Staff Shortages

Serious problems in the management of flights and passengers are being recorded at Paphos Airport, according to the Deputy Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou. Mr. Onisiforou stressed the need for immediate action by the authorities due to staff shortages at the ground handling company Swissport, which manages 90% of flights.
Delays in baggage handling and flight services are a daily occurrence, causing complaints from visitors. Airlines have already expressed their complaints in writing. The Deputy Mayor of Paphos pointed out that Swissport must immediately hire additional staff with better wages and working conditions.
At the same time, he called on the competent ministries to release visas for work from third countries. The airport expansion works are exacerbating the situation, causing traffic chaos. Mr. Onisiforou concluded that the authorities must take responsibility for substantial solutions.
