Supreme Court: Varoshiotou's Application Unfounded

The Supreme Court has filed an objection to the application of former judge Doria Varoshiotou, challenging the decision not to confirm her appointment and to terminate her tenure as a District Judge. The objection, filed through lawyer Polyvios Polyviou, states that Ms. Varoshiotou lacks the legal standing to challenge the Council's decision.
According to the objection, Ms. Varoshiotou's application is legally unfounded and not supported by legislation. The Supreme Court considers the application inadmissible, as it concerns the termination of her service, while the Council's decision on 27/6/2025 concerned the non-confirmation of her appointment to the permanent position of District Judge.
Furthermore, the Council argues that Ms. Varoshiotou accepted the offer of appointment with a two-year probation without reservation. The jurisdiction of the Supreme Constitutional Court to order her return to the Limassol District Court is also disputed.
The hearing on the application to suspend the decision is scheduled for July 23, while the examination of the main application will take place on August 25, 2025.
