Reports of Poor Working Conditions for British Women in Ayia Napa

A Channel 4 documentary reveals reports of poor working and housing conditions, as well as incidents of sexual harassment against young British women working in Ayia Napa.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zanettou, stated that he does not rule out isolated incidents, stressing that they do not represent the overall picture of the area. He pledged to cooperate with the Minister of Justice and the Chief of Police to investigate the allegations and take action.

An undercover Channel 4 journalist secretly filmed nightclub owners offering work with sexual favors. It is also reported that workers are paid very little and receive threats.

The Municipality of Ayia Napa will identify unsuitable establishments housing seasonal staff to make the necessary complaints.
