Daylight Saving Time: Clocks Go Forward One Hour on Sunday
Share on:

On Sunday, clocks will go forward one hour, marking the start of daylight saving time. At 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, clocks will advance by one hour.

This change is implemented in all countries of the European Union. Daylight saving time will end on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

Cyprus first introduced daylight saving time in 1976, with the aim of reducing energy consumption. The first EU legislative act on daylight saving time dates back to 1980.

In 2018, the European Commission proposed abolishing the time change, but no final decision has yet been taken. Until a decision is made, the time change system remains in effect.

The European Parliament voted in favor of ending daylight saving time in 2021, but agreement is required from both the Council and Parliament to approve the relevant legislation.
