Controversy over CT scanner in Kyperounta - OKYpY Responds

A controversy has arisen regarding the CT scanner in Kyperounta, with the President of PIS, Dr. Sotiris Koumas, referring to confusion regarding the transfer of the CT scanner from Limassol to Troodos Hospital and, subsequently, according to complaints, to the garbage.
Dr. Koumas stated that OKYpY failed to properly manage the machine, emphasizing that while the necessary infrastructure is in place for the installation of a new machine, it is not known when this will happen, which affects patient service.
When asked about possible mishandling by OKYpY, Dr. Koumas replied that he could not say for sure, but it is important to ensure the immediate operation of the machine after the transfer. He also mentioned the issue of staff availability to support the operation of the machine.
OKYpY's spokesperson, Charalambos Charilaou, responded to the allegations, stating that the old CT scanner had reached the end of its useful life and was replaced by a modern one. Its transfer to Kyperounta was temporary, but it was found that the building's foundations were insufficient.
Mr. Charilaou stressed that the purchase of new CT scanners is to meet increased needs and that a second CT scanner is being installed in each hospital.
Regarding the increased hospitalizations and deaths from influenza, Mr. Charilaou stated that deaths have occurred in previous years and that the organization's policy is based on prevention through vaccination and the protection of vulnerable groups.
