Foot-and-Mouth Disease: Restrictions in Geri and Dali, Concern Over Spread

The Veterinary Services have imposed restrictions in the areas of Geri and Dali within a 3 and 10-kilometer radius, following the detection of foot-and-mouth disease cases. Sotiria Grigoriadou, spokesperson for the Veterinary Services, told CYBC that no new cases have been reported, and laboratory analyses are pending.
According to Ms. Grigoriadou, the spread of the disease is concerning, and she urged citizens to comply with the measures. Vaccinations are ongoing, with 82.67% of cattle and 45.74% of sheep and goats vaccinated nationwide. An inspection at a farm in Geri revealed unmarked cows.
The Veterinary Services emphasize the need to contain the disease and urge caution regarding movement.
