Foot-and-Mouth Disease: No New Cases in Cyprus

The Veterinary Services announced that intensive epidemiological investigations for foot-and-mouth disease remain negative, both in infected zones and more broadly. Checks include tracing and sampling.
The first phase of vaccination is almost complete in cattle and is at 80% in sheep and goats. The second dose has covered half of the cattle and 14% of sheep and goats.
In addition, inspections at livestock farms in Pergamos have been completed and the suspension of their operation has been lifted, allowing the sale of products on the market.
Farmers are urged to avoid gatherings and movements that are not absolutely necessary to reduce the risk of foot-and-mouth disease spreading.
