Higher Advances for Farmers from the CAP

The European Commission is taking measures to allow EU member states to pay higher advances from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) funds to farmers, helping to address liquidity problems.
If member states use this authorization, from October 16, farmers will be able to receive up to 70% of their direct payments in advance, compared to the current 50%.
Also, advances for interventions based on area and animals in the context of rural development can be increased up to 85% of the total aid, instead of the usual 75%.
EU farmers are facing liquidity problems due to extreme weather events and trade tensions. The Commission has taken immediate action to provide support while ensuring legal certainty for member states.
