President Nikos Christodoulides stated that the Government supports livestock farmers affected by foot-and-mouth disease. Following a meeting with livestock representatives, the President emphasized the need for difficult decisions, considering the long-term management of the situation.

Referring to European Union protocols, President Christodoulides stressed that non-compliance would lead to exit from the common market, problems in tourism, restriction of exports and loss of financial support from the EU.

Regarding reactions to the handling of the disease and demands for the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture, the President replied that he is focusing on the substance and seeking solutions through continuous meetings with organized groups.

Finally, when asked about the war in Iran, President Christodoulides said he was monitoring developments and hoped for initiatives to end hostilities.
