The Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras, stated that the government is considering imposing price caps or providing subsidies for fertilizers, aiming to support the agricultural sector. Decisions are expected within the week.

In an interview with SKAI radio, Mr. Tsiaras explained that the increase in fertilizer prices is linked to the rise in energy costs and the geopolitical tension in the Middle East. The government is closely monitoring developments and considering immediate support measures.

The minister left open the possibility of taking immediate measures, such as imposing price caps or providing subsidies. He also reiterated the government's commitment to utilizing the waters of the Acheloos River for irrigation and energy purposes.

Finally, he referred to the changes in OPEKEPE, aiming to ensure transparency and fair distribution of subsidies.
