VAT Checks Continue on Events and Businesses

VAT checks are ongoing, with the Tax Department having collected nearly €30 million in two years from high-risk companies, as revealed by Assistant Tax Officer Christos Karoullas at the Audit Committee.

The checks are focused on the Mackenzie area and catering businesses, particularly regarding Turkish Cypriot properties. Artistic events are also under scrutiny, with the Tax Department creating an events registry and planning checks on 200 of them within 2025.
