School Supplies: Price Increases and Range in the Market

Preparations for the new school year have begun, with increased traffic in school supply stores. A survey by the Consumers' Association recorded the price range and increases compared to last year.

Prices for school bags range from €5 to €210, depending on size, design and brand. Pencil cases cost from €0.71 to €44.95, while pencils and pens range from €0.19 to €14.99. Notebooks range from €0.32 to €12.99 and filing folders from €0.38 to €5.39.

For many items, the cheapest options this year are more expensive compared to last year. School bags have increased by 25%, stationery by 46% and filing folders by 27%. Virginia Christou, Legal Officer of the Consumers' Association, noted that notebooks recorded the largest increase.

The survey showed that in many cases, prices are lower for online purchases. Consumers are urged to do market research and avoid products harmful to children's health.
