Unions on standby in the hotel sector

Unions in the hotel sector are on standby, according to the General Secretary of SYXKA PEO. Neophytos Timinis, General Secretary of SYXKA PEO, told CNA that results are expected from negotiations in the hotel industry next week.

Of the two cases pending at the Department of Labour Relations, one appears to be progressing positively, while a decision is expected on the other from the Department within the next week. Mr. Timinis stated that they are waiting to see if the employer in question will implement the mediation decision, in order to decide whether to proceed with strike action.

The Department of Labour Relations is also handling other cases concerning the sector, including cases concerning the Welfare Fund. PASYXE President Thanos Michaelides said that the two sides are in consultation and there is no cause for concern, stressing the good understanding between the parties.
