Radev: German Businesses Interested in Bulgarian Investments

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev announced that German companies will visit Bulgaria in early September to discuss potential investments. The talks follow a meeting between Radev and his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in Berlin.
Radev expressed his desire to create new production capabilities, specifically mentioning the potential involvement of Premium AEROTEC (a German aerospace company) in Airbus manufacturing in Bulgaria. He stated that he had discussions with the company's leadership in February and that they are expected to visit Bulgaria in September.
Radev emphasized the need for the Bulgarian government to leverage these visits for substantial investments rather than political PR campaigns. He also mentioned the strong working relationship with President Steinmeier, which has lasted for eight years.
Furthermore, Radev referred to cooperation with the German company Rheinmetall, which plans to open two factories in Bulgaria for ammunition and gunpowder, with an investment of over 1 billion leva. He warned that the investment could be delayed if the government does not do its research.
Germany is Bulgaria's leading trade partner, with trade between the two countries exceeding 12.3 billion euros in 2024. German investments in Bulgaria amount to 4.109 billion leva.
