"Prometheus" Ready to Sail: Uncertainty Remains for Vasiliko

The floating natural gas regasification and storage unit "Prometheus" is ready, according to the Minister of Energy, Michalis Damianos. However, uncertainty remains as to whether it will be utilized in Vasiliko.
Mr. Damianos stated that "Prometheus" has certificates with conditions, which concern the passage of natural gas for certification. ETYFA will have to decide in which port "Prometheus" will be transferred for this purpose.
The audit service is asking the Minister and ETYFA to clarify the timelines and costs of the Terminal project in Vasiliko, for which a Gap Analysis is being conducted.
The Minister confirmed that the project will proceed and is exploring the possibility of its implementation being undertaken by state-owned companies of the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, Cyprus and Greece have been seeking an evaluation firm to update the financial data for the electricity interconnection since November.
Regarding energy security, there is uncertainty about the installation of flexible power generators in Dhekelia by 2029, as no order has yet been placed.
Finally, a delegation from Israel is expected in Cyprus next week for the "Aphrodite" block, while the first quantities from the "Cronos" block are expected at the end of 2027.
