Warning Strike on Cost of Living Adjustment (ATA) Set for September 11

Trade unions have announced a three-hour warning strike for September 11 regarding the Cost of Living Adjustment (ATA). This leaves room for negotiation.
The announcement follows disagreements, and a previous strike on the ATA issue before the 2023 presidential elections. The ATA institution was impacted when the then-government froze the institution in response to Troika demands.
The aim is to avoid the strike through contacts and meetings. The pancyprian conference warned of escalating measures if there is no agreement.
The Minister of Labor has not declared a deadlock, and there is time until September 11 to take steps towards reaching an agreement. The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Giannis Panagiotou, stressed the importance of the constructive contribution of social partners.
Effective mediation is expected from the executive branch.
