General Government Surplus of €551.2 Million for January-May 2025

The General Government recorded a surplus of €551.2 million (1.6% of GDP) for the period January-May 2025, according to preliminary fiscal results from the Statistical Service. This compares to a surplus of €542.6 million (1.6% of GDP) for the same period in 2024.

Total revenue increased by €310.8 million (+5.6%) to €5,901.8 million, while total expenditure increased by €302.1 million (+6.0%) to €5,350.6 million.

Increases were observed in revenue from income and wealth taxation, social contributions, and interest and dividends received. Expenditure increased mainly in employee compensation and social benefits.
