Possible Power Cuts Today and Tomorrow – Up to 30 Minutes

The Cyprus Transmission System Operator (CTSO) warns of possible power cuts today and tomorrow due to increased demand and technical issues.
In a statement, the CTSO mentions that the cuts, if deemed necessary, will not exceed 30 minutes for each consumer group. Yesterday, August 12, 2025, controlled power outages of up to 18 minutes occurred due to high temperatures and a fault in a production unit at the Vasilikos power station.
The CTSO thanked the public for responding to the call for energy saving and again urged consumers to reduce electricity consumption, especially between 18:30 and 22:00. Two feeders in Nicosia and Paphos were restored to operation after local intervention, with power outages lasting 1.5 and 1 hour respectively.
Temperatures are expected to reach 45°C today and tomorrow, while efforts are being made to restore production units.
