PASUDY: Proposals on ATA degrade the institution

PASUDY has expressed concerns regarding the new government proposals for the Automatic Cost of Living Adjustment (ATA), arguing that they degrade the institution. The General Secretary of Pasydy, Stratis Matthaiou, stated to the Cyprus News Agency that, despite significant concessions from the unions, the new recommendations create formulas that link the ATA to the growth rate and inflation, while imposing ceilings on wages.
Mr. Matthaiou left open the possibility of strike action, while the General Secretary of KEBE, Filokypros Rousounides, declared his commitment to social dialogue, despite the dissatisfaction of the employers' side. Further discussions are expected.
