OEB Urges Customs Brokers to Accept Proposed Settlement

The Federation of Employers & Industrialists (OEB) has called on customs brokers to accept the proposed settlement and return to work. The OEB highlights the 'huge disruption' they are causing to the economy.
In a statement, the OEB mentions that yesterday's meeting at the Ministry of Finance resulted in a 'transitional arrangement' that satisfies a significant portion of the customs brokers' demands, providing additional time for harmonization.
The OEB argues that customs brokers had ample time to adapt to the new legislation and technology, but are requesting an 'indefinite suspension' of harmonization, causing 'suffocation' to commercial activity.
The OEB warns that imported containers are piling up at the port and there will soon be problems with exports as well.
