New 'Flexible' Electricity Tariffs: What's Changing

The Regulatory Authority proposes adding a new category of electricity tariffs, marked with a red color code, called 'flexible' tariffs. These tariffs are not linked to wholesale market fluctuations, but the supply charge includes a 'flexible element' that can vary depending on factors such as consumption.
According to RAAEY, flexible tariffs may include:
- Tiered pricing based on consumption level.
- Fixed supply charge per semester.
- Price differentiation based on consumption during off-peak hours (peak - off-peak).
The minimum contract duration is twelve months, and an early termination fee is permitted. Discounts may also be offered, which are detailed in the Special Terms of the Contract.
The reason for establishing the new category was the 'Picasso' tariff of Protergia, which provides a fixed uniform charge for energy and regulated charges depending on consumption.
