Cypriot Farmers in Despair Due to Water Shortage

Cypriot farmers across Cyprus, from Nicosia to Limassol and from Paphos to Free Famagusta, are facing serious problems due to water shortages. Farmers report that they cannot irrigate their crops, resulting in significant financial losses.
Mr. Loizos Markou, a refugee from occupied Potamos tou Kampou, was forced to reduce his crops due to the interruption of irrigation by the Water Development Department. The situation is similar for Mr. Giannis Antoniou, a refugee from Tavros of Karpasia, who reduced his production by 40%.
In Limassol, farmers are trying to support existing crops in every way possible, while in Nicosia, Mr. Charalambos Mylordos from the village of Vyzakia, reports that he cannot cover production costs due to the reduced yield of his lemons.
Farmers express fears about the future of their crops if there is no rainfall in the autumn. The report by Giorgos Chrysanthou highlights the despair of Cypriot farmers.
