Fuel Prices Expected to Rise Due to Middle East Conflict

The conflict in the Middle East is expected to cause a sharp increase in oil prices, affecting consumers. According to Konstantinos Karagiorgis, Director of the Consumer Protection Service, the recent small increases in gasoline and diesel prices are not related to current geopolitical developments.
Mr. Karagiorgis stressed that significant changes will be felt with the arrival of the next oil shipments. "We expect fairly high prices in the near future. The increases will be cascading and will affect other sectors," he said.
He also mentioned that the highest price ever recorded for oil was $120 a barrel, a level that may soon be surpassed.
