Stellantis is exploring strategic options for the future of Maserati, including a potential sale, according to a Reuters report. The assessment of the luxury Italian brand began before the new CEO, Antonio Filosa, takes office on June 23, 2025.

The evaluation of the viability of all 14 brands in the group, including Chrysler, Peugeot, Jeep, and Alfa Romeo, has been a priority for Chairman John Elkann.

In April, the automaker hired consulting firm McKinsey to analyze the impact of U.S. tariffs on Maserati and Alfa Romeo, with a possible scenario including the disposal of Maserati, although the process is in its early stages.

Maserati was founded in 1914 in Bologna and is now based in Modena. It has been owned by Stellantis since 2021 and was previously closely associated with Ferrari. It has produced models such as the Quattroporte, Ghibli, GranTurismo, and the Levante and Grecale SUVs, with an annual production limit of 75,000 vehicles.

Stellantis was formed in 2021 from the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with the PSA Group. It is based in Amsterdam and operates in more than 130 countries.
