EU Reaffirms Strong Support for Great Sea Interconnector Project

The European Union has reaffirmed its strong support for the electricity interconnection project between Greece and Cyprus, known as the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI). This was announced by the Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Danish Jorgensen, following a meeting with the Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, and the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Cyprus, George Papanastasiou.

Commissioner Jorgensen stated via "X" that the EU strongly supports the GSI project. He also emphasized that improving interconnection is essential for reducing energy prices and ensuring energy independence. Furthermore, he announced that the "Energy Highways" initiative will soon proceed, aiming to enhance investment interest in the GSI project.
