Amazon Launches Same-Day Fresh Food Delivery

Amazon is expanding its rapid delivery services to include fresh foods, offering Prime subscribers the ability to receive orders, from strawberries to frozen meals, within hours.
The e-commerce giant will offer same-day services in 2,300 cities by the end of the year, more than doubling the 1,000 locations where Amazon Prime members can order items such as milk, fruit, and baked goods.
Orders over $25 for Prime subscribers will be delivered at no additional cost, while non-subscribers can use the service by paying $12.99 regardless of order size.
This move marks Amazon's effort to compete with food delivery services such as Walmart+ and Instacart. Amazon's announcement has lowered barriers to food purchases, putting pressure on the profit margins of companies like Uber Eats and DoorDash.
In June, Amazon announced a $4 billion investment to expand rapid delivery to over 4,000 rural communities in the US by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the company is facing difficulties in the United Kingdom with its suppliers, according to a study by the Groceries Code Adjudicator.
