Limassol Chamber and Hong Kong Discuss Investment Opportunities

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEL) organized an informative event on Friday regarding investment opportunities in Hong Kong. The event was attended by representatives from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, Invest Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
EVEL President Andreas Tsouloftas stated that the goal is to make Limassol the 'Hong Kong of Europe.' Shirley Yung, the Special Representative of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, mentioned that Cyprus could become an investment destination for China.
Both sides referred to the common characteristics of Limassol and Hong Kong, such as the strategic location, the port, and the shipping industry. Mr. Tsouloftas noted that Cypriot entrepreneurs have already started operating in Hong Kong, and other events are planned.
Ms. Yung emphasized that there is a new 'GoGlobal' government initiative that gives entrepreneurs from mainland China the opportunity to invest in other parts of the world through Hong Kong. She also mentioned the intention for closer cooperation with EVEL for future events and information exchange.
