Only 1 in 10 businesses had a positive sign during the summer sales, according to an ESEE survey. The president of ESEE, Stavros Kafounis, stated that the main milestones of the year (winter sales, Easter, summer sales) were disappointing for the sector.

Six out of ten businesses recorded a drop in sales, while almost half (47%) appeared little or not at all satisfied with sales. 59% of retail businesses recorded worse sales compared to last year.

The ESEE survey recorded that 37% of entrepreneurs want to maintain low prices even after the end of the sales, while 6 in 10 adopted discount rates above 30%. For 38% of businesses, the highest purchasing traffic was recorded in the first half of August.

Entrepreneurs rate accuracy, increased operating costs and reduced disposable income as the most important problems. Three out of 4 businesses note an increase in operating costs of more than 10%.
