Hellenic Competition Commission Approves Yfantis' Acquisition of Nikas

The Hellenic Competition Commission has approved the acquisition of Nikas by Yfantis. According to the announcement, the decision (No. 895/2025) was made on November 20, 2025, and concerns the acquisition of exclusive control of «ΠΑΝΑΓΙΩΤΗΣ Γ. ΝΙΚΑΣ ΜΟΝΟΠΡΟΣΩΠΗ Α.Β.Ε.Ε.» (Nikas) by «Α. & Χ. ΥΦΑΝΤΗΣ Α.Β.Ε.Ε.» (Yfantis).
The Hellenic Competition Commission's investigation concluded that the agreement does not create competition problems in the processed meats market, as it does not create or strengthen a dominant position for the new entity. The investigation examined various categories of cold cuts (poultry, pork, beef) and distribution channels (retail, mass catering).
Factors such as the volatility of market shares, the absence of barriers to entry, and the bargaining power of supermarkets were taken into account. In the poultry cold cuts market, the new entity will have a share of 30-40%, but there is already a significant competitor. In the pork cold cuts market, the share will be over 20-30%, but the increase from the acquisition is not significant.
