Greek Shipowners Dominate New Shipbuilding with 24% Share

Greek shipowners maintain a leading position in new shipbuilding, holding 24% of global orders. According to a report by Xclusiv Shipbrokers for August 2025, Greek shares are significant in tankers (24%), bulk carriers (12%), containerships (9%), LNG carriers (6%), and LPG carriers (15%).
In dry cargo ships, Greeks have 162 ships under construction, 12% of global orders. In tankers, they lead with 288 ships on order, 24% of the global total. In containerships, they have ordered 86 ships, 9% of the total.
The largest increase is observed in LNG carriers, with Greeks having 51 orders in progress, mainly for large ships.
