e-kalathi: Price Differences in Supermarket Products

Significant price variations are recorded in supermarket products included in e-kalathi. The Cyprus Consumers' Association analyzed prices for the period July 29 - August 3, 2025, noting cost differences between the Sklavenitis, Athienitis, Ioannidis, Metro, and Alfa Mega supermarkets.

On July 29, 2025, the total cost of 267 common products was:

• Sklavenitis: €926.52
• Athienitis: €979.49
• Ioannidis: €1025.85
• Metro: €1047.76
• Alfa Mega: €1049.87

On August 3, 2025, Alfa Mega supermarket had 89 products on offer, Athienitis 16, and Sklavenitis 2. The Consumers' Association noted that many Alfa Mega offers were higher than the usual prices of Sklavenitis and Athienitis.

Konstantinos Karagiorgis, Director of the Consumer Protection Service, stated that e-kalathi provides a price comparison tool for consumers. Over 10,000 users have downloaded the app. Increased usage is expected after September.

e-kalathi includes 478 products, divided into 20 categories, from 167 stores representing 22 supermarket chains.
