e-kalathi: Over €100 Price Difference for Identical Products

A new survey by the Cyprus Consumers' Association through the e-kalathi platform reveals significant price differences for the same products between supermarkets, with the difference exceeding €100.
The survey, based on a comparison of 260 common products on August 31, showed the following ranking:
- Sklavenitis: €893.38 (lowest total cost)
- Athienitis: €951.84
- Metro: €985.47
- Ioannidis: €997.06
- Alfa Mega: €997.90 (highest price)
The difference between the cheapest and most expensive supermarket amounts to €104.
Sklavenitis emerged as the cheapest in key product categories such as dairy, non-alcoholic beverages, and personal care products.
The Consumers' Association points out that despite initial differentiations, there was no substantial price reduction in August, and there are indications of coordinated offers among supermarkets.
The Cyprus Consumers' Association pledges to continue publishing the results of its surveys, highlighting the distortions in the food market.
