DYPA: Full Contribution Coverage for Long-Term Unemployed
Share on:

DYPA (Public Employment Service) offers full coverage of insurance contributions for long-term unemployed individuals nearing retirement, for up to five years. This initiative, based on Article 10 of Law 2874/2000 and updated by Law 5239/2025, aims to facilitate the transition to retirement for those who have been out of work for an extended period.

According to DYPA, this measure supports citizens who are close to meeting the retirement requirements. Enrollment in the program is optional and covers the missing insurance days.

Beneficiaries must:

  • Have continuous unemployment of at least 12 months.
  • Be no more than 5 years away from retirement.
  • Have accumulated 3,000 to 4,500 working days.
  • Not be subject to provisions for heavy and hazardous occupations.

Interested parties can apply for continued insurance until they reach the minimum number of days. The expense is fully covered by DYPA.

DYPA's governor, Gianna Hormova, stated to APE-MPE that job loss shortly before retirement should not be an obstacle. DYPA aims to strengthen vulnerable social groups and create a safety net for the unemployed.
