DCMK Considers Connecting 18 Applications to Medium Voltage Distribution System

The Cyprus Transmission System Operator (DCMK) is collaborating with the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) to explore the possibility of connecting 18 applications to the Medium Voltage Distribution System. This was announced today, following recent publications regarding connection applications for energy storage systems.
The DCMK has issued Preliminary Connection Terms for 8 applicants, with a total capacity of 231 MW and energy of 570 MWh. Applicants must submit the necessary documents and studies for the issuance of Final Connection Terms. So far, no applicant has submitted the required documents.
In addition, the DCMK has received 18 additional applications for connecting energy storage systems, with a total capacity of 416 MW and energy of 1485 MWh. In 6 cases, the establishment of Transmission Substations was necessary, which the applicants did not want.
The DCMK is considering the possibility of connecting with reduced power through the Medium Voltage Distribution Network, in collaboration with the DSD (EAC). It has sent the DSD (EAC) data for the remaining 12 applications, for which connection to the Medium Voltage Distribution System appears more suitable.
The DCMK publishes a list of all applications for connecting energy storage systems on its website.
