ATA: Agreements and Disagreements Before Presidential Meeting

Significant convergences, but also a key disagreement regarding the ATA (Automatic Cost of Living Adjustment), are recorded in the discussions between trade unionists and employers, ahead of the meeting at the Presidential Palace. The main point of disagreement concerns how to incorporate the ATA into the minimum wage.
The General Secretary of PASYDY, Stratis Matthaiou, stated on the Alpha Information program that there is agreement on the following:
- Gradual concession of ATA until July 2028 at 100%
- Cap of ATA at 4% of inflation
- Establishment of a Committee
However, the disagreement focuses on whether the ATA will be paid on an annual basis for those receiving the minimum wage, with employers proposing payment every two years. PASYDY insists on annual payment, so that there is correspondence with those receiving ATA on an annual basis.
Mr. Matthaiou explained that the position of the trade unionists is the immediate incorporation of the ATA into the minimum wage, while employers want the ATA to be paid every two years. The granting of incentives to employers who wish to grant the ATA immediately, as well as the extension of collective agreements, are also being discussed.
A point of ambiguity, according to Mr. Matthaiou, was the term "ATA for all", which provoked reactions from the employers' side. The results of the meeting at the Presidential Palace are awaited.
