ASTEPAHK Disagrees with the Work Stoppage at EAC

The Independent Union of Technical and Labor Personnel of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (ASTEPAHK) has expressed its disagreement with the decision of the unions EPOPAH, SIDHKEK, SEPAHK, SYVAHK for a two-hour work stoppage by EAC personnel.
ASTEPAHK is asking for second thoughts regarding the work stoppage, emphasizing the need for unity and dialogue. The union states that dialogue regarding the involvement of Cyta in the energy sector is ongoing and taking action would create the incorrect impression that employees do not wish to discuss finding the best solution.
ASTEPAHK supports the continuation of dialogue with the Board of Directors and Management of EAC, the Government, and the trade union movement. It notes that the right to strike should only be used when dialogue options are exhausted and if the results are deemed detrimental to the mission of the EAC.
ASTEPAHK's firm position is that the state should allow EAC to modernize so that it can provide cheaper and cleaner electricity to consumers. It calls on other unions to pursue a climate of consensus and unity.
