The Government has announced an increase in the minimum wage for the next two years, sparking reactions from trade unionists and employers.

The Council of Ministers set the minimum wage at 979 euros, and at 1088 euros after 6 months of continuous employment. The Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, stated that the decision was taken after evaluating macroeconomic and social data.

SEK, PEO, and DEOK expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that the increase does not meet the needs of low-wage workers. On the employers' side, OEB described the increase as "disproportionate and economically unfounded," while KEBE noted that the amount of the increase is higher than expected.

50,000 workers are expected to benefit from the increase.
