Farmers' Protests Postponed After Meeting with Minister of Agriculture

Farmers' organizations have announced the temporary postponement of protests scheduled for Monday, following an emergency meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, Maria Panayiotou.
In a joint statement, the organizations PEK, EKA, Panagrotikos, Nea Agrotiki Kinisi, Evroagrotikos, and the Pancyprian Wheat Producers Organization (POS) stated that all the problems for which the protests had been announced were discussed.
The organizations decided to allow additional time for the competent authorities to resolve the issues, following a broad exchange of views and in a spirit of cooperation. They also thanked the Minister of Agriculture for her initiative.
The meeting was attended by officials from KOAP, the Director of the Department of Agriculture, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, the Land Registry, and the Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service.
Prior to the meeting, a meeting was held between the Ministers of Agriculture and Interior with the KOAP Commissioner. All necessary actions by the state departments had been completed in previous days.
